We still can’t stop talking about our experience here. We had so much fun. Like something out of a Hallmark movie. Do yourselves a favor and spend a little more on the nicer room to get the full experience. Not too far from Galway. The service is beyond anything we have ever experienced. The food was top notch. In all my years have never experienced anything like it.

Had a wonderful mid week stay here with my mother, it felt like being welcomed by long lost relatives the moment we walked through the door. The prosecco reception and history talk in the bar is a wonderful touch and great way for guests to mix. We were pleasantly surprised by the photo taken by one of the owners and gifted to us. The dinner menu is top class and service is fast and friendly. Beds are super comfortable and the lounge and library areas very inviting. We worked up an appetite for breakfast with a morning walk around the scenic Sky Road. Although I'm from Galway, I'll be back again!

Do me a favor, stay amazing! This was not only a place to stay but it was an experience. Brian made us feel like we were the most important guests, which every guest felt that way. Champagne hour with a bit of history was a great way to unite the group and start the evening. Phenomenal 4 course meal with excellent staff throughout the castle. I highly recommend visiting!

Honest to goodness castle with lovely common rooms. The grounds on their own are worth it. Had a delightful all inclusive dinner and breakfast. Their dinner was the best food we ate on our trip! Very large room with a lovely view. We would very highly recommend this Hotel!

ThecHotel is located on a hill above the Town of Clifden. There is ample parking. The owners go out of their way to make guests feel both special and welcome at this hotel. A pre dinner reception with sparkling wine and a brief and lively talk on the history of Clifden as well as information about the origin of the Connemara pony was the perfect way to start an evening of delicious food, served with style, followed by piano music in the bar for those who enjoy a sing song. Everyone was presented with a souvenir photo of their party at the end of their meal. Breakfast was plentiful. For those who enjoy walking, the hotel provides a map of excellent trails to follow. Views of the surrounding landscape from the terrace are superb.

My wife and I booked for three nights in November. We had stayed here a few years ago and found it restful. We arrived and were shown our rooms.I was taken aback there was ongoing refurbishment work being done to other bedrooms, resulting in continuous noise, drilling, hammering etc. We complained at reception but got no real help. That evening we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. I saw the owner. I spoke to him quietly and let him know our concerns. He immediately handed us a small printed card and signed it. The card stated, "I am sorry for any inconvenience" with his name printed. The owner made no oral response to our complaint and brushed it off in a flippant manner. We let him know we were cutting short our stay and would leave in the morning. The owner showed no reaction. We woke the next morning at 8.30 and the same noise was happening. We went down for breakfast and was met by the owner, who made it known by saying in a load voice to all other customers that we were his "V.I.P. guests from Wexford". My wife and I felt embarrassed and intimidated by this, what we felt was a comment to make fun of us. (A 2 star review a year ago made by a Karen Flynn also stated The owner called her his V.I.P. guest in a tone she was not happy with. A review not answered either). We noted that the other guests in the hotel were all on a tour so they had no choice but to stay. I wrote a mannerly and proper account of our complaint and left in in reception upon checking out, but to date haven't received a reply. Many of our family and friends stayed in the Abbeyglen and were taken aback by our story and especially the fact, the Owner didn't address our complaint or respond to our written account. We booked into another hotel and had a lovely time in Connemara. I had to put this review up, because I had been really looking forward to staying in the Abbeyglen. I was diagnosed with a serious health issue and had spent months in hospital and this was my first break since coming home from hospital. To finish, we found it astonishing that the owner disregarded our situation without as much as a proper apology and an attempt to rectify it, and to also ignore a nicely written complaint. I've waited two months for a response, but obviously we never got one. It costs nothing to be nice, and I mean genuinely nice. It's a pity I had to write such a review, but it's the truth. My mom and I had a wonderful experience at the Abbeyglen Castle! The history, location and ambience is warm and welcoming. Brian makes you feel like you’re family when he greets you with complimentary Prosecco in the bar area, a cozy pub like atmosphere with a fireplace (I can still smell the wonderful turf fire!) He is a wonderful host, calls everyone by their first name (you’ll feel like you’ve known him for years) and explains the rich history of the Abbeyglen to all the guests. The live music in the bar and pianist in the dining area is also a plus! The food is absolutely amazing, the dining experience was incredible. Staff was great. The room was cozy, clean and the view was beautiful! Highly recommend and would stay again next time I’m over the pond 💚
